Don’t Dismiss Everything You Can’t Measure

Startups have made a profound impact on many parts of our lives. Not limited to but things like transportation and communication are being redefined and improving almost daily. But startups have also ruined parts of our lives. Particularly, the hyper-focus on “measuring.” I’ve heard this quote or a variant so often it’s impossible to count… “if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.”

Bullshit.

Just because you can’t measure something, don’t dismiss it. There are things and times that measurement isn’t possible. Think about love, we can’t measure it but what sort of world would this be if we just ignored love because we can’t quantify it?

Human experience exists in your business. From both an employee and customer perspective. Some of that experience can’t be measured. Don’t dismiss it.
